Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. Then, in December of 2008 it was revealed that Rihanna was contracted with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. On October 21 2016 the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening artist. In 2018, she went on to be a guest on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video then released in September. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November, 13, she released two additional singles titled The No One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It has already received over 3 million hits on YouTube in its first week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
